Adolphe Thiers


Born in 1797 in Marseilles (Rhone delta). Died in 1877 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, buried with the cemetery of the Father-Lachaise (Paris).
Political life :
1871 - in February, it is elected by the National Assembly Head of the executive power of the French Republic.
         - from March to May, it fights the insurrectionary Commune of Paris with the Generals Gaston de Galliffet and Patrice of Mac-Mahon.
         - in May, it negotiates the Treaty of Frankfurt with Bismarck, representing Prussia, the capitulation of France
(transfer of Alsace and Lorraine, 5 billion francs).

President of the Republic of August 31 at May 24, 1873.
