La Plaine

Today
Place Jean Jaurès (The Plain)

For the Marseillais, this place, which is in top of a hillock, is always called " the plain ".
These small puppet theatres had much success near the children. In Marseilles there was several, the Plain, Jardin of Prado, and St-Michel public garden beside the Law courts (Montyon place).
The afternoon one heard the cries of the children and the laughter merry to escape from behind the palisades painted in green or blue.
