Statute of the Jews

Us, Marshal of France, head of the French State, the heard Council of Ministers,

Let us issue :

Article ler. - Is looked like Jew, for the application of this law, any person resulting from three grandparents of Jewish race or two grandparents of the same race, if its spouse himself is Jewish.

Art. 2. - The access and the exercise of the public office and mandates enumerated hereafter are prohibited with the Jews:
1. Head of the State, member of the Government, Council of State, consulting of the national command of the Legion of honor, supreme court of appeal, Court of Auditors, body of the mines, body of the Highways Departments, general inspection of finances, run of call, courts of first authority, district courts, all jurisdictions of a professional nature and all assembled resulting from the election.
2. Agents concerned with the department of the Foreign Affairs, secretaries-general of the government departments, general manager, directors of the police headquarters of the ministries, prefects, sub-prefects, secretaries-general of the prefectures, general inspectors of the administrative services to the ministry for the interior, civils servant of all ranks attached to all services of font.
3. General residents, general governors, governors and secretaries-general of the colonies, inspectors of the colonies.
4. Members of the teaching bodies.
5. Officers of the air and sea, Armies.
6. Administrators, directors, secretaries-general in the profit companies of concessions or subsidies granted by public bodies, post offices with the nomination of the Government in the companies of general interest.

Art. 3. - The access and the exercise of all the public office others that those enumerated in article 2 are not opened to the Jews that if they can to support its defense of the one of the following conditions:
a) To be titular card of combatant 1914-1918 or to be quoted during the marketing year 1914-1918;
b) To be quoted on the agenda during the marketing year 1939-1940;
c) To be decorated with the Legion of honor on a purely military basis or with the military decoration.

Art. 4. - The access and the exercise of the liberal professions, the free professions, the functions reserved for the members of the legal profession and with all auxiliaries of justice are allowed to the Jews, unless payments of public administration did not fix for them a given proportion. In this case, the same payments will determine the conditions under which the elimination of the Jews in excess will take place.

Art. 5. - The Jews will not be able, without condition nor reserve, to exert any of the following professions:
Directors, managers, writers of newspapers, reviews, agencies or periodicals, except for publications of strictly scientific nature.
Directors, administrators, managers of companies having for object manufacture, impression, distribution, presentation of cinematographic films; directors and directors of catches of sights, type-setters of scenarios, directors, administrators, managers of rooms of theatres or cinematography, contractors of spectacles, directors, administrators, managers of all undertaken referring to broadcasting.
Payments of public administration will fix, for each category, the conditions under which the public authorities will be able to be ensured of the respect, by the interested parties, of the prohibitions pronounced with the present article, as well as the sanctions attached to these prohibitions.

Art. 6. - To in no case, the Jews cannot form part of the organizations charged to represent the progressions aimed to articles 4 and 5 of this law or to ensure the discipline of it.

Art. 7. - The Jewish civils servant aimed to articles 2 and 3 will cease exerting their functions in the two months which will follow the promulgation of this law. They will be allowed to take advantage of their rights to the retirement if they meet the conditions of working life; with a retirement proportional if they are at least fifteen years old of service; those being able *exciper of none of these conditions will receive their processing for one length of time which will be fixed, for each category, by a payment of public administration.

Art. 8. - By individual decree taken in Council of State and duly justified, the Jews which, in the fields arts person, scientist, artistic, rendered services exceptional at the French State, could be raised of the prohibitions envisaged by the present law. These decrees and the reasons which justify them will be published in the Official Journal.

Art. 9. - The present law is applicable to Algeria, with the colonies, country of protectorate and territories under mandate.

Art. 10. - This act will be published in the Official Journal and carried out like law of the State.

Law on the foreign nationals of Jewish race

Us, Marshal of France, head of the French State, the heard Council of Ministers,

Let us issue:

Article 1er. - The foreign nationals of Jewish race will be able, from the promulgation of this law, being interned in special camps by decision of the prefect of the department of their residence.

Art. 2. - It is made up to the minister Secretary of State inside a commission charged with the organization and administration with these camps.
This commission includes/understands:
A general inspector of the administrative services;
The director of the font of the territory and abroad, or his representative;
A representative of the ministry for finances.

Art. 3. - The foreign nationals of Jewish race will be able in any time to see itself assigning a residence forced by the prefect of the department of their residence.

Art. 4. - This decree will be published in the Official Journal to be observed like law of the State.
