MOBILE GROUPS
OF RESERVE


They were created by the law of bearing 23 April 1941 organization of the services of Font in France. The decree of April 23, 1941 fixed manpower of the " Groups of " concerning the zone nonoccupied at: 32 Commanders of Policemen, 126 officers of Peace, 126 Lance sergeants, 504 Shift workers, 6048 Policemen, 32 countable Brigadiers, 63 Policemen secretaries is a total manpower of 6931.
Called " Mobile Groups " or " Groups of Reserve " these units took their final name of " Mobile Groups of Reserve " on May 13, 1941.
The Guard of honour of the Pétain Marshal in VICHY was formed at the beginning of two sections of 30 men. It will take importance and, under the name of " Special Group of Protection " soon the security of displacements of Mr LAVAL will ensure.

The first organized Group will be the G.M.R. Bourbonnais, stationed close to Clermont-Ferrand. It solemnly lent oath on September 18, 1941 in the presence of Admiral DARLAN and of the new Secretary of State inside, Pierre PUCHEN in these terms :

"I swear fidelity with the person of the head of the State, promising to obey to him in all that it will control in the interest of the service of the law and order and for the interest of the Fatherland."

The first " Mobile Groups of Reserve " were created in the large cities of the South : MARSEILLE, TOULOUSE, BORDEAUX, PERPIGNAN, CARCASSONNE.

Created by the decree n° 18O3 of April 23 I9Î, they were dissolved in I944 June.
