Secretary-general with the Font from April 1942 at December 1944 in the Laval government, had occupied before and successively the functions of sub-prefect of Vitry-the-François in 1938, secretary-general of the department of the Marne in 1939, then of prefect of the Marne as from 1940, and finally of prefect of the Champagne Area as from 1941.
It had been bleached in 1949 by High the Court of Justice.
But it was caught up with by its past. In 1989, its former subordinate Jean LEGUAY (representative of Bousquet near the German authorities in the occupied zone) died before to be judged; however, the ordinance declaring after its death the extinct public action raised that " information had made it possible to establish... its participation in crimes against humanity "
In 1991, René BOUSQUET was accused in its turn for crimes against humanity, but it was assassinated in its Parisian apartment by Christian DIDIER June 8, 1993, at the moment even where the procedure brought against him was going to lead to a reference before a Court of bases.
