Initially political font of the party Nazi, Gestapo becomes font of State in 1933, on arrival of Hitler to the capacity.
In 1936, it is integrated into the font of safety (Sicherheitspolizei), is charged with pursueing the hostile individuals and movements with the party and the State Nazis.
Gestapo is then directed by Heinrich Himmler and Reinhardt Heydrich. Its capacities are immense: it can stop and punish without the agreement of the courts; the administration and the traditional font are with its service; it has authority on the concentration camps and makes reign terror both in Germany and in the occupied countries.

As from 1940, the activities of Gestapo extend indeed to those. Under the authority of Heydrich then, after its execution by Czech patriots (1942), under that of Kaltenbrunner, it fights the movements of resistance, pursues the Jews, the Communists and the opponents with the Nazism.
After the German defeat, it is considered to be guilty war crimes and crimes against humanity by the court of Nuremberg, and is condemned.
